18/VIII/18 - 33cl bottle @ Gents Bierfestival - BB: n/a (2018-1053)
Clear dark red brown beer, small creamy irregular beige head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: some mocha, chocolate, bit of coffee, dusty, molasses, dried fruits. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter, hoppy, very roasted, coffee notes, bit sweet, charcoal. Aftertaste: bitter and dry hops, bit sourish, mocha and coffee. Not bad, but not my favourite style...

Bottle at home. Too dark to really see but I’m guessing black with tan head. Big sweet and deep roasted chocolate malts. Molasses, licorice, salmiak, soy sauce. Big sweet and bitter and somewhat meaty (umami). Full body and soft carbonation.

Bottle at home, on the roof under the bats. Black with thin tan head. Sweet dark malts, licorice, molasses, brown sugar, butterscotch and some dark fruit. Big sweet and bitter. About medium body, and very little (= too little) carbonation. Oof! This is way off... Aromawise it could have been a decently enjoyable stout but I’m currently not enjoying this 33cl pour of flat watery roasty sugar syrup at all... EDIT: Ok, my expectations were based on the description Imperial Stout. It’s not. Once I accept that this is not that bad. But it says so on the label and I’ll stick with my point. It’s a shitty imperial stout, that ended up as an ok stout.

Bottle at home on the roof after a beachcombing walk on De Zandmotor. The one where I found a mammoth bone, speaking of monsters from the sea. Near clear dark golden with white head. Sweet malts, big barley, citrus peel and pineapple juice, fudge, custard, resin, honey, spicy vegetal hops, garlic, onion, snake venom, sharp alcoholic. Big sweet and quite bitter too, sharp crispy spicy edge to it. Over medium body and soft carbonation. A bit like a very hoppy and crispy barleywine. --- Beer merged from original tick of Monster Brews - Carcinus on 23 Jul 2018 at 00:15 - Score: 7

Bottle at home. Black with fluffy light tan head. Sweet roasted chocolate malts, big peaty, salmiak, light charcoal, roasted chestnuts, and light dark fruits. Over medium sweet and bitter. Woody, roasty, smokey, dry umami happening. Full body and soft carbonation. Pretty nice stuff. --- Beer merged from original tick of Allmouth on 22 Jul 2018 at 11:23 - Score: 7

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Hazy golden orange colour, white head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, some sweet tropical fruits, hint of tobacco, malts. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, hint of tobacco, grain, tropical fruits, citrus, decent bitter finish. Medium bodied. Was hoping for a remake of Blinck, doesn't reach that level but this is nice as well.

Bottle @ home. Nice red, clear red to red-brown color, medium to full sized beige head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, light sweet caramel and light dark red fruit notes. Taste malts, some caramel again, light alcohol as you'd expect, malt bitter, light dark red fruit hints again. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Quite nice.
