Description
We are dedicated to the entire experience of craft; from our creative food menu to our unique beers. The adventure started with creating a perfect beer, and we have kept that focus since our opening in 2005 with 31 combined rotating taps plus hard cider and a variety of wines. The Saugatuck Brewing Company (SBC) has a large family friendly pub, outside patio plus a secondary tap room dubbed “The Barrel Room” for multiple different dining and drinking experiences in one building. We operate on a 45 barrel Brew System with 960 barrels of Fermentation Space and the ability to age over 400 wood barrels at one time.

Darker brown than the Imposter Scot, but with a similar thin and very mild head that shows just deeper than tan and fades quickly. Aroma of deeper coffee and earthiness, but the nuts, grain and chocolate are back with some more pungent bitterness at the end. Light to Medium-bodied; Relatively strong coffee and earthiness noticeable up front with a lot of bitterness and pungency with some coffee here as well and some lighter malts, but the coffee is strongest by far, which is by design here. Aftertaste shows some of the grainy notes as well as a light dose of sweetness from the nuts and chocolate, but the coffee and light yeastie qualities come through the edges here. Overall, a decent and more inspired beer than the Imposter Scot with some actual coffee notes as well as the grainy and complex nuttiness here with a pretty good balance, but still on the thin side considering the style. Nice to try, but perhaps there are others better here to try than this. I sampled this pour on draught at Saugatuck Brewing Company in Saugatuck, Michigan with my one daughter when she wasn't even three yet, sampled on 10-September-2015.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a lighter brown glow towards the bottom and a very thin, almost tan head. Aroma of light yeast, a dash of bread and some chocolate along with a tiny bit of coffee and a lot of earthiness, but nothing really 'scotch' here. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong earthy and nutty flavours dominate here with a lot of peanut and grainy qualities and a dash of the chocolate noticeable, but very little else, especially in terms of complexity. Aftertaste shows a touch of the sweetness coming through the cracks, mainly from vanilla and nuts, but some fruitiness does come out along with a bit of the chocolate, but that seems to add more bitterness than sweetness. Overall, a decent beer at best, but this is perhaps and imposter for a reason and should be avoided if you really want the complexity or characteristics of a real scotch. Can from a friend. Thanks Marc! Pours a clearish amber, copper with a finger of off-white foam that lingers. Caramel, toasted malt, fig and light smoke on the nose. Palate is similar with toasted malt, smoke and light notes of apple. Drying finish that is fairly balanced. Enjoyable brown.

Can from B&M, Chippenham. A brown-black beer with a beige head and the lightest of fizzes. Fresh raspberry (rather than strawberry) up front. Smooth mouthfeel but otherwise not much sign of the vanilla. A little chocolate syrup before a pleasant roasty malt finish with lasting raspberry. Less sweet and less fake and gimmicky than I expected - this is actually rather well balanced and enjoyable. Liked the raspberry.
