Brasserie Caulier
Microbrewery

Belgium 🇧🇪
Associated Venue: Caulier Taproom & Shop
Established in 1996
In the early 1990s, Roger and Linda decided to market their own beer: a custom-made high fermentation blonde. The Bon Secours was born! These were promising beginnings but they still dreamt of creating their own brewery. A dream which became reality when they bought the machinery from the Deneve brewery in Schepdaal and inaugurated the first brew in 1996!
In 2007, the NV Brasserie Caulier was declared bankrupt. At the beginning of 2008, the activities were transferred to a private limited company of the sons of Roger Caulier, who subsequently adopted the name Brasserie et Distillerie Caulier. As of 2012, Laurent, Bertrand and Vincent joined their parents in the adventure. In order to respond to the growing demand for its products, in 2018 the Brewery began a large multi-annual programme of investments with the goal of tripling its production capacity. The historical Brewing House has been extended, new fermentation and storage tanks have been added, and the bottling line has been modernised.

Brown bottle, 33 cl, best before 03/09, savoured on March 20 2007; eye: amber with golden reflections, lots of creamy white head, lightly hazy, good effervescence, quite a lot of lacing; nose: before opening the bottle, it is not smelling that nice, surprisingly after opening the bottle the odours are pleasant, Belgian yeast, fruity, grapefruit, fresh hops, spices; mouth: malt, spices, yeast, nicely felt hops, finale en malt and hops where the alcohol reveals its presence, slightly chalky long after the finale, mildly hoppy, lightly sweet, quite carbonated, texture is alcoholic but surprsingly thin, full body; overall: quite enjoyable FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 33 cl, meilleure avant 03/09, savourée le 20 mars 2007; oeil : ambrée avec des reflets dorés, mousse blanche crémeuse et abondante, légèrement voilée, bonne effervescence, pas mal de dentelle; nez : avant d’ouvrir la bouteille, ça sent la robine, curieusement après ça, ce sont des odeurs légères, levure belge, fruitée, pamplemousse, houblon frais, épices; bouche : malt, épices, levure, beau houblon bien senti, finale en malt et houblon où la chaleur de l’alcool se dévoile légèrement, légère présence crayeuse après la finale, moyennement houblonnée, légèrement sucrée, assez carbonatée, texture alcoolique et curieusement mince, corsée; en résumé : bien aimée

A pink beer with pink foam. Light fruit aroma of no discernible particular fruit. Bland flavor but there is some fruit in there, and it is clearly natural rather than syrup or an adjunct. They could refine this recipe and add some flavor and have a very good beer.

Tap at Chr. firtal, Odense:: Murky brown with a thick white head. Sugar, bread, malty caramel/toffee sweetness. Filling body. Touch of dark fruits like raisins/plums. Very good finish that is lasting. A good Belgium bruin!

Brown bottle, 33 cl, best before 01/09; eye: burnt orange, voluminous and creamy white head, hazy, suspended matter, light effervescence, light lacing; nose: prior to opening the bottle, it smells exactly like where you pile up all of your bad beers, surprisingly, odours are faint, Belgian yeast, fruity, really light wood and cigar; mouth: waiting time, nothing is going on, then grainy malt, arrival of the alcohol that will not leave after that, a thiny presence of caramel can be tasted as well, finale in alcohol that is quite strong, medium body, alcoholic texture; overall: good but a bit one-dimensional (alcohol) FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, meilleure avant 01/09; oeil : orange brulée, mousse blanche crémeuse et abondante, voilée, matières en suspension, légère effervescence; nez : avant d’ouvrir la bouteille, ça sent la robine, curieusement après ça, ce sont des odeurs légères, levure belge, fruitée, très léger boisé et cigare; bouche : période d’attente, rien ne se passe, puis malt granuleux, apparation de l’alcool qui ne quittera plus par la suite, un petit filet discret de caramel peut être entreperçue, finale en alcool assez forte, très carbonatée, corps moyen, texture alcoolique; en résumé : bonne mais un peu trop unidimensionnel (alcool)

330ml bottle. Light hazy red body with a big pink head. A vague raspberry aroma. Flavor is sourish, some kind of medicinal and yeast (maybe the yeast is the midicine flavor?). Medium short finish.
