Description
Timmermans has kept the tradition of the true lambic alive for over 300 years now. This unique beer, made with 30% wheat, is brewed in Itterbeek, in the oldest active lambic brewery. At its origin is a miracle: micro-organisms in the air of the Senne valley end up in the wort and cause spontaneous fermentation. This is why a true lambic is brewed only within a 15 km radius of Brussels, in the area known as Pajottenland. Since 1993, Martin’s Finest Beer Selection has been proud to preserve this authentic part of Belgium’s beer heritage.

From a 25 cl shared bottle picked up at Systembolaget Vimmerby. Clear, deep red colour with a fizzy white head. Sweet aroma with cherries, marzipan, and sugar. The taste is sweet. Lighter body. Sweet finish with artificial cherry flavour. So-so.

33 cl bottle. A raspberry to dark copper with a pinkish ephemerous, mostly lacing head. Saccharine, strawberry drop, bubblegum, artificial sweetener. Sweetish onset, tart, light, low body. No bitterness. Abrupt finish.

Bottle 25 cl. Pours a clear, dark red with a creamy, pink head. Sweet cherry/marzipan aroma - nice but totally artificial. Light body, slightly tart and quite fizzy. Massive cherry/marzipan, a tad salty with no bitterness. Quite drinkable - if you can cope with the artificial cherry notes. 030724

Pours dark and deep clear red. Fast fading , nearly white pinkish foam. Scent is cherry candy, unnatural, average sweetened 'chery' beer, pepper doesnt give much. Taste is sweet, exhaustingly sugary, poepegattekes. Hiding the black pepper, which only gives a hint near the finish. Truly exhausting, boring syrup flavored beer. What a waste of lambic ...

pours unclear reddish/amber. White head. Scent is older strawberry candy, damp and sweet, but not fresh and zingy. Definately lost all lambic character. Taste is sharp, light body, higher carbonation. Touch of acidity but dominated by sweetness - not too sugary though, its more of a fruity sweetness ( strawberry) which is hard to believe is all natural for sure - this thing is sweeter than eating strawberries. Rather exhausting drink, but i've had far worse in the sweetened / pasteurized lambic category, truth be told. Always a shame to see lambic being raped like this, but at least the endresult is somewhat acceptable.
