Description
Big Drop Brewing Co. is a new craft beer company dedicated to making great beer with an ABV of no more than 0.5%.

Big Drop was launched in October 2016 by the-then City lawyer Rob Fink, along with his school-friend/band-mate, designer and entrepreneur, James Kindred. Along with renowned experimental brewer, Johnny Clayton (formerly of Wild Beer Co), they’ve perfected techniques to make alcohol-free craft beer without the need for artificial removal of alcohol.

The 2018 contract with a leading supermarket chain will require Big Drop, which moved production from a small-batch brewer in Bermondsey to Sussex-based own-label specialist Hepworth, to scale up production from 10,000 litres per month to some 40,000 litres.

Production moved to Black Sheep Brewery after a deal was agreed with Keystone Brewing Group, announced December 2024.

Bottle from the Grumpy Goat, Reading. My first from this brewery. Pale amber, no head and a barely-there fizz. Sweetcorn, corn flakes, lemon and lime squash, tap water and a hint of ginger powder. Mainly sweet with a touch of tartness and some dryness in the finish. Quite thin. There's some interest here, but there's just too much of a corn taste for it to be enjoyable. I'd heard good things about this brewery, which made this beer doubly disappointing.

330ml bottle. Quasi black colour with average, frothy to macropore, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, beige to tan head. Chocolately and roasty, dark malty aroma, hints of dark chocolate, some cocoa, a touch of lactose. Taste is dry, roasty dark malty, slightly chocolately, a touch of lactose; slightly watery, slightly overcarbonated. Nice composition, but quite anaemic due to its low abv.

330ml Can - Pale golden in colour. Grapes, elderflower, lemon and grapefruit in the aroma. Hoppy and rather resinous taste with grapefruit, elderflower and lemon zest standing out. Some grapes can be detected in the fairly dry finish. Enjoyable for being a non-alcoholic beer.
