About
The "Grain d'orge" brewery is a family brewery that was founded in 2002 by Benoît and Viviane Johnen. It is located in the village of Hombourg, at the limit of the 3 borders. The production of the brewery has increased year by year since its creation to reach in 2016, 4000Hl of beers.

Its main beers are Brice, Joup, Canaille, Grelotte, The Pom, Triple, Double and Pure d'Aubel. To this are added others, so-called beers on contract. They are tailor-made for small debits or special events.

The combination of ingredients and natural spices makes Grain d'orge beers unique and the layout of a spacious brewing room respecting the standards imposed by the FASFC guarantees their quality. In addition, a banquet hall has been fitted upstairs. This is available for rent but also serves to welcome groups who visit the brewery in order to end pleasantly with a tasting.

Pink-amber beer with fine, dense pinkish head. Extremely perfumey; "Body Shop" mix with raspberries and/or strawberries. Dull-fruity taste, artificial à souhait, annoying flavour. Light body with a syrupy texture. When is this plague of pseudo-fruitbeers going to end?

Pale yellow-gold, small but reasonably stable whitish head. Meaty esters, fruity and, a faint reminiscence to apples indeed. Duff, sweet fruity taste, but not very natural. Liquorice-infested, terrible. Medium bodied, sugars make up the body instead of the malt. This is just a sweetened, less spiced version of the "Inkels" beer. More sugars, some beer, less spices. And worse.

Small head over dirty, mossy-amber beer; lots of deposit. Overpowering fruity-spicey nose, overdosed on aniseed, liquorice - so that it acquires a strawberry aroma (and it’s supposed to be apple). Way too powerful. Liquorice, aniseed and honestly, there’s little likeable about it. Warming up, it gest rosewater-like, amandine flavour which is worse. Medium bodied, slick. Ugh. Taste is after all, most important and that is ruined here.

Murky golden amber with a light white head. Several particles floating throught. Sour spicy citrus aroma, led directly into the sour spicy ditrus flavor. Tangy aftertaste!

An orange beer with a slight hazy under a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, and so is the flavor, but the flavor also incorporates a light spicyness - I pick up peber. The end is dry, and the body surprisingly thin.

Bottle. Pours a hazy brown colour with a long lasting off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with hints of yeast and spices. Fruity dusty flavor with hints of yeast and caramel. Sweet malty aftertaste with some hints of alcohol.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear, pilsener golden with a small, white head. Fresh, somewhat spicy nose. Medium-bodied, sweetish malty with spicy imprints - ginger and coriander. No bitterness. You could mistake this for a light summer quencher, and you wouldn’t know what hit you. 210506

Bottle. Clear dark brown with a medium thick long lasting off-white head. Malty, spicy and yeasty aroma. Sweet malty and yeasty flavor. Some caramel hints. Malty aftertaste with some hints of caramel and yeasts.

Bottle. Yellow colour with a small white head. Sweet fruity aroma with some hints of yeast. Sweet fruity flavor, hints of lemon and pineapple. Also some flavor of yeast. Sweet yeasty finish with some bitterness.
