Description
OWA beer was born in May 2006. It was born and designed for the best Belgium and Japanese fusion food experience. It is indeed a very good combination with SUSHI and YAKITORI (weet soy sauce). The brewery is located in the famous district of Uccle in Brussels, only 2kms from the Moeder Lambic in Saint Gilles. Leo Imai started to brew in December 2008 and in 2009 he made a kitchen laboratory in the brewery, and researched the best marriage with japanese food.

(375ml 2013 bottle generously shared by a friend) Pours a slightly hazy dark gold with a bubbly white head and no lace. Aroma is very vinous with white wine and oak character, white grape juice, a little acetic/citrus acidity, a bit of apricot/yellow plum skin and a little of their tart flesh. Light caramel sweetness. The palate has a bit of a sweet core, lightly woody white wine with a hint of acid, maybe a bit of tangerine, apricot, a little plum, touch funky too. Finish is dry and lightly bitter and acidic with lingering apricot skin, bit of wood and funk. Medium full body with moderate carbonation. Certainly not overbearingly "plum" but an interesting fruit lambic with a nice blend of wine, skin and flesh tones, dry, not too sour, full bodied. Good stuff.

Bottle - Earthy sweet notes, hints of plum and wood. Hazy gold with a Decent white head. Tastes just as it smells, odd and weird. But nice.

Bouteille 37.5cl, BB 20/09/2015.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark mahogany with moderate head. Aromas of sweet malts and Belgian yeast. Flavors of dark raisins and sweet roasted malts, with an oily bitterness and a watery dry tannic finish. Not really a stout - fits the broader Strong Belgian Ale category.

Trevlig.

Bottle, 75cl. An almost clear one, golden in color and with a small, dense, white head. The aroma has a pleasant funkyness in the back, with some cellar and horseblanket, lemon too, some cinnamon and quite a lot of flowers. It’s semi-tart and dry on the palate, with a soft carbonation level. Lemon, cellar hints, some cinnamon and a solid dose of flowers in the flavor, lasting for a good while. Perhaps a bit too much flowers in this one, but it’s interesting and nice anyway, and the cinnamon-like touch is fine too. Sure a beer to repeat. 141207
