Description
OWA beer was born in May 2006. It was born and designed for the best Belgium and Japanese fusion food experience. It is indeed a very good combination with SUSHI and YAKITORI (weet soy sauce). The brewery is located in the famous district of Uccle in Brussels, only 2kms from the Moeder Lambic in Saint Gilles. Leo Imai started to brew in December 2008 and in 2009 he made a kitchen laboratory in the brewery, and researched the best marriage with japanese food.

Nice integration of yuzu and lambic bretta here. A cool Japanese experiment that came up very drinkable. Citrus and plum with grapefruit bretta. Bottle thanks to Travlr.

Tasting at Matt’s, 5.5% ABV
Hazy golden color with small head. Amazing aroma, waves of polenta, browned butter, polenta, cookies, flowers, old grandma cupboard, malt, old times. Dry but soft mouthfeel, the acidity is moderate; some malt, dark bread, cellar. A bit Astringent.
Weird and weirdly great.

Bottle from Au Nom de la Bière, Brussels
Hazy blond color with small head. Fantastic, deep aroma of yuzu, and in the background some lambic funkiness; impression of basil-pineapple icecream. Low carbonation, semi-dry mouthfeel; delicate lemon peel and yuzu flavor, not very funky, but extremely enjoyable; moderate acidity.
The flavor is not complex as the best Lambics, but the yuzu is phenomenal.

2020-11-21, corked half bottle at Phill's, vintage 2016, 4 years old, 5.5% ABV, 5-3-6-3-13=30
Golden to light amber colour, hazy, a lot of sediment in the bottle, almost no head; it looks oxidized. Smell of cork, ume, feet, wet cardboard; yes it's oxidized. Undercarbonated, light acidity, not much Lambic character overall, light fruit, but less evident ume than in the aroma. Too old.
2014-06-28, corked bottle at CapFlu's Blomster Bash; 5.5% ABV, 7-3-7-3-14=34
The ume aroma is very strong, with fruit pits. The flavor is quite sweet with some ume.
Nice but the Lambic character is too light.

Bottle - Umame, plum and a light sourness. Cloudy gold with a good white head. Plum tartness and a creamy long finish. Decent and not to over the top.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Hazy deep red - amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light and airy. Superfine carbonation. Light airy malts. Touch of seltzer. Mild red wine tang and fruits, very mild considering the length of time in the barrel. Light airy finish with a touch of wood. A grower.

375mL bottle, pours an opaque golden orange with a small white head. Nose brings out light funk, citrus notes, and zest. Flavour is lightly sweet, with plums, citrus fruits, light funk, and some residual sweetness. Well-balanced, with some funky, citrus notes on the finish. Good stuff.

375mL bottle, pours an opaque cloudy orange with a small white head. Nose is extremely citric and pithy, with loads of citrus zest to the point of mouth shrinking. Flavour is extremely lemony, with loads of mouth shrinking citric acid, lemon and pithiness. Doesn't really taste like a lambic. Just really citric, acidic and pithy. Not to my taste - too acidic and citric.
