Description
OWA beer was born in May 2006. It was born and designed for the best Belgium and Japanese fusion food experience. It is indeed a very good combination with SUSHI and YAKITORI (weet soy sauce). The brewery is located in the famous district of Uccle in Brussels, only 2kms from the Moeder Lambic in Saint Gilles. Leo Imai started to brew in December 2008 and in 2009 he made a kitchen laboratory in the brewery, and researched the best marriage with japanese food.

375ml at Phill's place shared with Alex. Year 2016 is indicated on the label. Appearance: almost clear golden with a weak white head. Aroma: sweet caramelized plums. Taste: some funk, minerals, and lots of caramelized plums. Overall: interesting.

Very kawai label but the Japanse broccoli odeur is not very much to hachelen. Farty veggie notes, bitter raw beans, citric sour, some warm canned peach notes but overal over medium sour with weird vegetable funk.

Bottle shared. Slight hazy golden with no head. Light veggies, earthy, dank funk, wheat, some oak as well. Not much fruit, it has some 'green' aroma like unripe fruit or wet leaves. Medium sour, light sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with almost no carbonation. Dry oaky finish. Decent flat lambic, just smells a little weird. I expected more from Owa though as most of their beers are way more interesting.

Poured from a 375 ml, 2019 vintage bottle. Aroma is fairly cherry forward with lighter notes of lemon and hints of under ripe stone fruit. Light cracker malt and wheat notes. Light herbal, earthy funk and hints of oak. Pours a hazy, dull, golden orange with a small, thin, white head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers for a bit before disappearing. Flavor is somewhat acidic with hints of sweet cracker malt and wheat notes. Low bitterness and hints of alcohol. Moderate cherry notes with hints of lemon and other stone fruit. Light herbal, earthy phenolic notes with hints of oak. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a low carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent beer with solid cherry notes and not too much acidity. Lots of the base De Troch lambic character.
