Description
Just as many others brewers, Kevin started brewing solely for fun and curiosity. After a while, the urge to share his brews with more people than only close friends, made him decide to go official with his “ Small Batch Brewery”. Stubborn as he is, he wanted to keep the whole brewing process in his own hands so every single one of his brews will be brewed in house. That doesn’t exclude doing some collaboration brews in the future. But every beer wearing the Malcroys label will have the same dedication and “no compromise approach” as the beers being brewed in his own tiny brew kettle. Being small has advantages and disadvantages. You can’t brew big volumes and thus reaching a big audience is not easy. On the other hand, brewing on such small scale gives a lot of freedom to experiment, brew crazy beers or try ancient or strange techniques other bigger brewers cannot afford due to scale or time. That is what makes a small batch brewery so special; that is what Malcroy Brewing will try to do. Brewing special, honest beers, one small batch at a time.

Prefer the winter edition... Summer edition more hop forward, but lacks hop punch due to the strong taste of the roasted malts. Little bit too carbonated. Tasty beer overall.

It's what it is... Unbalanced in tastes... But that was the purpose. For 6.8% abv quite thick and rich.

I Draught /I Full lace from good yellow, fine & dense head over fully hazy orange beer. Citrus, orange, lunaria, nectarine; very intense & inviting. Bitter, resiny, ultra dry taste with a faint orange-like sweetness behind. Very powerful, except for the very finish that comes out a bit demure. Long lasting resiny bitterishness, all the same. Very light, but present fatty impression warming up. Quite slick - hopoily, some creaminess in the texture, as diluted fruitmash. Very good hazy IPA, indeed almost West Coast.

First ( and only keg of this batch) ever by this brewery ! I immediately LOVE how the brewer realizes the difference between hazy and NE style, and thus refuses to call this NE style simply because it's hazy. Can others PLEASE start following this example ? The beer pours a very hazy, creamy blonde. Medium small white head. Scent is mild citrus, mild tropical. Creamy. Medium low intensity. Taste is full, creamy, bitterness is medium high. Citrus, bright and fresh. Medium body, medium to medium low carbo. Very nice, summer refreshing IPA.

Pours black, big creamy, very stable head. Scent is intense roasty, creamy, dank hops, grassy bitterness. Taste is full, roasty, ashy, intense. Hops already faded ( compared to less than a month ago ) , making more room for the ashy parts to rise. Still, very well balanced and enjoyable BIPA. winter remains the favorite though.

Yellow-cream coloured head, bit irregular, fed by fine carbonation in almost black beer; end of bottle solid yeast. Chocolate, bit smoked, rum, rumbonen , raisins. Nose gives somewhat syrupy impression. Roast bitter, mild, with sweet malty underbuild. Rum gives it a bit vinous character. Cacaopowder or dry chocolate. Bit nutty connotations (pun not intended). Feels pretty full-bodied, more than 6.8% would warrant. Attenuation seems not very complete. Sweet, not bad. The name, BTW, set me on the wrong foot a bit, I was expecting some of the Frankenland classical beers.
