Thanks to my GF for this growler from the brewpub. Pours a dark brown colour with a foamy beige head, average retention and some patchy lacing. Aromas of roasted malts and chocolate ones. Slightly creamy texture with a little dryness in the finish. Taste of roasted malts again, with notes of chocolate and molasses. Gets better as you drink it, so good to have a big one like this.

Can from the LCBO. Clear medium amber with a large white head that fades slowly and leaves a bit of lace. Nose is predominantly grain with a light bit of fruit and just a hint of grassy hops. Light sweet caramel, honey and fruit throughout with very light bitterness. Medium light slick mouth with soft carbonation and a crisp finish. Decent Blonde Ale.

On tap at the Ottawa beerfest. A nice copper pour with a thick beige head. A bit buttery in the nose with soft hop notes. The taste is hoppy popcorn, it is pretty bizarre but not unpleasant. The beer I want to drink while watching a movie.

On tap at the Ottawa beerfest. On the house from chatting with the friendly staff. They are 2.5 years old as a brewpub and in the midst of building a production facility. This is their award-winning black IPA a coal black pour with a tan head. A clean roasty aroma with a floral hop bouquet. Medium bodied the taste is chocolate, coffee grinds and hops. Pretty good.

Growler from GF, enjoyed at Mont-Blanc, QC after a full day of skiing (February 2014). Pours a clean copper with a big beige, good retention and a little lacing. Roasted darker malts with decent fruit notes and mild yeast. Very light chocolate malt with a bit of hop in the finish. Light roastiness of grain in the aftertaste. A nice easy-drinking, refreshing Scotch Ale.
