On tap at the brewery. Pours black, with a medium, foamy, tan head. The aroma is vanilla, butterscotch, raw coconut, black pepper, and oloroso sherry. Sweet and roasty, with good bitterness to balance. Heavy and decadent.

On tap at the brewery. Pours black, with a medium, foamy, tan head. The aroma is cherry brandy, the beautiful spiciness of Amaro Averna, black tea, cloves, and cocoa. Sweet and malty, with a touch of herbal bitterness. Heavy body, with a syrupy, malty palate. This is a complex beer, with an amazing scotch character. Fantastic!

Can from total wine NC. Pour is big and black, looks large and in charge. Foam is big tan head that fades rapidly to nothing. Nose is volatile damp burned campfire wood. First taste surprizingly lands some co2 cutting my tongue. My palate likes that for a stronger stout. A thicker more viscous stout that has an alky impact yet comes across a little more civilix]zed and a little less cloying than most higher alky sweet stouts. Interesting brew. Maybe cause I was working out in the hot sun, IDK. Odd bready aftertaste on some swigs. Gets on my nerves a little bit near the finish. There, you have it.

Bitter and resinous, with a mild hit of grapefruit, melon, and tropical fruit, followed by miles and miles of sticky, oily pine. Not much malt to offset the bitterness, though, making for a fairly one-note pint. Eh.

12 oz. can from Total Wine. Pours a pitch black color with a small tan head and fair retention. No lacing. Very faint molasses aroma. The flavor is very dark roasted malt, almost charred, with a mild bitter finish. Thin mouthfeel and body. This is closer to a Schwarzbier than an oatmeal stout, IMHO. Not sweet. Low carbonation. Clean, simple profile. I like the flavor, but the body is a bit lifeless.
