Description
Working with its home orchard and some of the most talented orchardists in its environs, Little Pomona crafts ciders and perries and other fermented beverages that speak of the land, that taste of the harvest, that illustrate the wonderful cidermaking heritage the region is built on, and that look to the future.

First launched onto the market in 2017, Susanna and James Forbes' story started a few years earlier, when they found their dream orchard in Thornbury, North Herefordshire: 120 trees with four classic cider apple varieties. Inspired by the tastes and vision of notable producers, their quest was to work with the best possible fruit using natural methods to fashion ciders and perries with true flavours. Ciders with the character and structure to match with food. Ciders to enjoy, to share and to celebrate with.

Little Pomona was the first to create dry, keg-conditioned cider on a commercial basis, and its Root & Branch instantly won fans. The future will see more dry kegged ciders alongside a fascinating barrel fermentation and maturation programme.

Aided and abetted since the 2019 harvest by talented Canadian, Blair Côté, the team continues to adopt a progressive and experimental approach to the fermentation of fruit.

Thrilled to be named the 2019 Cider Producer of the Year by the Hereford Times, always the vision has been to share this journey, and today Little Pomona embarks on a fresh chapter as its opens its new Cider House, complete with Tasting Room.

750ml bottle from Little Pomona. 7.3%. Hazy pale golden colour, white foamy head that dissipates to a thin layer, and aroma of fruity apple, funk, tangy. Taste is mellow, apple, fruity, zesty, fleshy, slightly tart with woody funk, some citric acidity and light tannin. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, dry finish. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Missus got me this for a Christmas present. Soft smoke on a Champagne vibe here. Clean and super dry with big and foamy carbonation. Not sure I’ve had a cider where the head has lasted throughout. Tooth stripping tannins. Unreal that this is 8%. Great cider. Dry and clean.

Sample thanks to danlo. Clear deep gold appearance. 75% foxwhelp but surprisingly mellow in its tannic attack, with soft strawberries & cream notes emerging alongside a little toffee and tart juice.. good tannin close. Interesting.

Sample thanks to danlo. Clear deep gold appearance. Less foxwhelp here so much more forgiving on the palate, presenting a generally quite dry, herbal feel with black tea tannic hints and lacking in a full fruity character, though distant toffee glimpses emerge.

Sample thanks to danlo. Clear deep gold appearance. Aroma presents curious vanilla and whisky hints which continue to taste. Some caramel, tart juice, gentle acidity, good tannic presence from the foxwhelp.. just enough in fact. Pretty good.

Sample thanks to danlo. Deep golden appearance. Speyside coming through on the nose. Good whisky Influence coursing through, bolstered by some soft tannins and gentle apple murmurs. Lacks the bite of other editions in this series but still very decent.

Sample thanks to danlo! Misty dulled caramel gold appearance. Pleasant nutty butterscotch nose, taste sees the Dabinett fruit working well with the bourbon, nicely integrated with a bright acidity, soft tannins, woody hints.. great balance overall. Another good one from LP.
