Description
Working with its home orchard and some of the most talented orchardists in its environs, Little Pomona crafts ciders and perries and other fermented beverages that speak of the land, that taste of the harvest, that illustrate the wonderful cidermaking heritage the region is built on, and that look to the future.
First launched onto the market in 2017, Susanna and James Forbes' story started a few years earlier, when they found their dream orchard in Thornbury, North Herefordshire: 120 trees with four classic cider apple varieties. Inspired by the tastes and vision of notable producers, their quest was to work with the best possible fruit using natural methods to fashion ciders and perries with true flavours. Ciders with the character and structure to match with food. Ciders to enjoy, to share and to celebrate with.
Little Pomona was the first to create dry, keg-conditioned cider on a commercial basis, and its Root & Branch instantly won fans. The future will see more dry kegged ciders alongside a fascinating barrel fermentation and maturation programme.
Aided and abetted since the 2019 harvest by talented Canadian, Blair Côté, the team continues to adopt a progressive and experimental approach to the fermentation of fruit.
Thrilled to be named the 2019 Cider Producer of the Year by the Hereford Times, always the vision has been to share this journey, and today Little Pomona embarks on a fresh chapter as its opens its new Cider House, complete with Tasting Room.

750ml bottle from Fine Cider Co. Hazy orangey gold colour, white foam head that quickly dissipates away and aroma of leathery, mucky apple. Taste is tart, tangy apple, orchardy, funky, woody, with lots of drying spicy earthy tannins. Medium bodied, mediu carbonation, dry tart & tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle. Beer Zoo. Gift off the missus. Clear gold. Very lively. Foam of white head is noisy and short lived. Baked apple, and tannins. And not a deal else. Taste is hard to describe, on account of the fact there isn’t any. Utterly drab and pointless. Really, there’s no point going on here. I’ve made cider way better than this, and I’ve no idea what I’m doing. Poor.

Bottle. Beer Zoo. Xmas gift off the missus. Soft on a medium gold. Fine ring of white head. Nose has over done baked apple. Apple stalk. Tea like tannins. Stinky, sweaty Dabinett. Some chamois. Taste has a light, baked apple sweetness. Firm, tannic bitterness. Light to medium body. Fine carbonation. Light, slightly tangy apple to finish.
