750 mL bottle courtesy of nimbleprop. I got a pour from the middle of the bottle and it already looked like mud. Thin off-white head. Decent head retention. Tart aroma with notes of mustard, vegetable and herbal notes, dill particularly. The taste is tart, earthy and spice with that same dill thing going on. Medium bodied. Weird and funky, and not necessarily in a good way. The other ratings are much better, so it looks like we got a bad bottle.

Bottle, thanks to t0rin0 (I think) at Sourfest. Pours with a murky, brown body with a small tan head. Aromas are lightly smokey, sour, vinous, hair dryer, suntan lotion, molten plastic, dark fruits and berries. Flavors are of berries, acetic acid, caramel, vinous, plastic. Earthy. Light bubbles.

Tap at Hopmonk in Sonoma. Pours amber. Aroma is light banana with a fair amount of spice. Pretty much tastes that way. Per the bar lady they used hefeweizen type yeast. Decent "hefe".

Draft. Dark amber beer with a dark cream colored head. Aroma of hops, bourbon, and cognac. Red wine and light tart flavor with cognac, malt, light hops, and brandy. Medium-plus bodied. Tartness lingers with red wine, brandy, malt, and light hops. Base blend of beer is a IIPA and others then aged in a petite syrah barrel but notes of cognac and brandy come through.

Hazy dark amber with a thick beige head. Nice aromas of malt and herbs. Medium body and average carbonation. It’s malty, but there is a lot of unusual flavor, and that tends to knock down the sweetness. Decently bitter. Slightly medicinal in the finish. Doesn’t finish sweet. A complex flavor set like no other. Pretty tasty.

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Most annoying wax to remove that has ever been conceived. Sorry, but I didn’t get any sourness at all from this. Pours with a small tan head over a brown body. Aroma of plastic, alcohol, cherries and vanilla. Taste is watery, belgian yeast, alcohol, earthy, dirt. Light bubbles. Decently dry finish. No sourness.

Bottle from the brewpub. Tim Goeppinger, brewmaster. Pours like a stout with a light beige head. Light aroma of dark malt and fruits - maybe cherry. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is oaky fruity sour, but not very cherry. Very oaky, rather astringent. The sour tends to move into oak and dark fruit. It’s an easy drinker, but quite unusual. Main aspect is oak/sour. Improves with time. Good with cheese and nuts. THIS IS NOT A STANDARD KRIEK. It is a very good ale.
