Hazy blonde. Just a thin head. On the nose, Light brett C and mellow grapes. On the palate, it's tart, light floral hops, honeyish character, liking the complexity on this.

750 ml bottle thanks to Travlr. Flavor is subtle wood, mild funky yeast, soft floral. Probably sat just long enough in oak to build great character without pulling to much from it. Delicate!

(750ml bottle @ Sardines, Quebec City, June 18/22) Pours basically clear brigth yellow-gold with a decent white head and some lace. Notes of pale cereals and subtle bread with gentle honeyed sweetness, light candied lemon-forward point of lactic acidity with a little additional vegetal tartness provided by rhubarb, not heavily funky but light hay and balanced saison yeast, ginger is present but not overwhelming and certainly not overly hot, a little white pepper too, finish is quite dry and leans into the rhubarb dosed with hay and a little ginger, fruity and lightly tart. Light to medium body, smooth filling carbonation. The adjuncts here are both delicate and well-handled, elegant balanced stuff.

(750ml bottle @ Sardines, Quebec City, June 18/22) Pours hazy straw with a thick white head and good lace. Notes of pale crackery cereals, green apple, lime, soft white grape, some lightly peppery grape skin and a bit of tannin, dusty funk, moderate wood, lightly to moderately lactic, quite dry, mineral finish with lemon/lime acidity, hay and wood. Light bodied, quite filling carbonation. Smooth and delicate, perhaps a bit on the light side really, elegantly made but without the pop of most other Auval bottles.

(750ml 2021 bottle @ Sardines, Quebec City, June 18/22) Noted as an amphora maceration on the bottle, not sure if batch 1 was. Clear bright red pour with a thin whitish head and no lace. Notes of quite vinous camerise up front, roundly fruity forest berry with some earthy tannin, floral honey quite present too as expected, touch waxy, lightly to moderately acidic despite the honey, floral notes somewhat restrained, a little herbal component though, funk (leather and barnyard) nicely present, dry and lightly tart finish with soft tannin, leather, a little herbal bitters, touch of alcohol warmth showing up. Medium-bodied, oily, quite softly carbonated. Sounds like it was quite superior to batch 1, which I've not had. Very cool braggot, lovely balance as usual with Auval.
