Description
In 1995 Harry van de Wiel decided to establish the Stadsbrouwerij Rotterdam. The brewery is decorated in the style of the old town hall of Delfshaven, the wood-copper kettles in which brewing takes place are a good example of this. In the meantime Harry's son has taken over the stirring stick and continues his father's passion.

Suhkrune, šokolaadine, röstine, alkone. Läheb rohkem sinna imperial stout kanti kui aus olla, mis iseenesest pole ju halb, ag võiks vähem suhkrune olla.

On tap at Pelgrim, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma brings out dark dried fruits, toffee, and bready malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with dark dried fruits, bready malt, and some toffee. Decent depth to this. A little too much bitterness but it works. Solid.

On tap at Pelgrim, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out gentle saison yeasty and esters. Flavour is very estery, with floral notes and perfume. Flavour is anything but authentic, with lots of esters, perfume, and Belgian yeast. Lacking depth. Lame stuff.

On tap at Pelgrim, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma refs also very subdued raspberries, not much else. Flavour is similar, with gentle raspberries, soft wheat and not much else. Lacking depth but it's clean. Meh.

On tap at Pelgrim, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is subdued on candied sugar, eaters, and Belgian yeast. Flavour is rather perfumey, with candied sugar, floral notes, and straw. A little estery, lacking the cohesion and precision of a proper tripel. Meh.

Mayflower tripel, the label says. ABV is the same. 75 cl bottle. Gift from Eduard Morshuis from Café Morshuis Albergen, who got this bottle for free at a beer tasting and let me have it because he didn’t really like this beer. If I liked the beer, I should buy the other bottle, he said. Well: deep golden color, big frothy head. Very citric, a bit perfumed aroma. Hoppy, citric, even a bit creamy flavor. Medium long hopbitter aftertaste. Medium bodied. Eduard, I will definitely buy the second bottle!

Aroma has laurel, licorice and some malt. Sweetish flavor, malty, with a hint of metal, licorice and laurel. Thin to medium bodied. Bittersweet aftertaste, again with laurel. Not bad, but certainly not perfect.
