Description
In 1995 Harry van de Wiel decided to establish the Stadsbrouwerij Rotterdam. The brewery is decorated in the style of the old town hall of Delfshaven, the wood-copper kettles in which brewing takes place are a good example of this. In the meantime Harry's son has taken over the stirring stick and continues his father's passion.

Golden colour, medium head. Both aroma and flavour have a lot of vanilla. Coriander and citrus noticable as well. After I had the Pelgrim Pils, it was no surprise this tripel does well, as well! Smooth.

Beautiful dark amber to brown beer, with ruby hints; very huge, mixed head, light brown, leaving lace. Warm, spicey nose (juniper berry, dried savoury?), dark malts, a bit of hard baked puff-pastry. Bitterish-spicey, overlying again a cookie, (dark) cake-like taste, burnt caramel, and as some others said, laurel or some other leafy herb. Medium bodied at best, but a creamy MF, not at all thin. Warming up, the cake-like taste becomes even more marked, with the blooming sweetness. Better than average Bock, thanks to its restrained but peculiar spicing.

Very clear redbrown color, short head. Sharp bit roasted malty taste, metallic and sweet. Sticky palate. Not a very good try for a bock.

Pretty dark for a spring bock. Clear dark orange/brown color. Smelled like salami or 'leverworst'. Dry malty taste and a dry palate.

Sampled draught at Thembi, Maastricht
Mustard yellow, really hazy with brief creamy head. A nose full of vanilla and vinegar. Lightly acidic, well rounded, clean and malty with balsamic finish. Like a strong, blonde Flemish red ale. Tasty and refreshing, but perhaps not very complex.
