Description
In 1995 Harry van de Wiel decided to establish the Stadsbrouwerij Rotterdam. The brewery is decorated in the style of the old town hall of Delfshaven, the wood-copper kettles in which brewing takes place are a good example of this. In the meantime Harry's son has taken over the stirring stick and continues his father's passion.

Cloudy dark blond color with creamy head. The aroma is moderately sweet and malty, lightly fruity. Some wheat flavor, maybe some spice, some grass, but too much bitterness, kinda disturbing.

Cloudy amber color, creamy head. Nice malt aroma, a bit fruity. Quite good malt flavor, smooth mouthfeel; nice continental hops, although the final bitterness is too strong. Hints of yeast too.
Good but rough.

Bottle from the brewpub
The color is black; the head generous but frothy, and the bottle a bit gushing. Mild aroma of roasted malt, wine barrel, chocolate; simple. Too high carbonation, sign of an unwanted fermentation in the bottle; as a Dubbel, it’s a reasonably tasty beer with some dusty chocolate, and indeed there is a feeling of wine barrel and red wine, light acidity, light ethanol.
Nice try.

Dark mahogany color, creamy head. Caramel and malt aroma, a bit nutty and oxidized. Lean body, semi sweet flavor of caramel, touch of roasted malt, roasted nuts, light oxidisation; alcohol perception well managed. Good (but in the shade of the V.S.O.P.).

Draught @ Oirschots bierfestival 2012. Very nice clear medium dark ruby redy color, excellently lacing, medium sized off-white head. Smell malts, dark malts, lightly sweet. Taste malts, lightly sweet, not much more. Low to medium body and carbo. A bit boring.
