Jonge Beer Brouwerij

Microbrewery in Hoogeveen, Drenthe, Netherlands 🇳🇱

Established in 2014

Fabrieksweg 14, Hoogeveen, 7902 NM, Netherlands
Description
The initiators are Jan and Alie de Vries. Jan de Vries started brewing beer at home in 1981. In 2014, the step was taken to a commercial brewery

The brewing is done on a small scale and in an artisanal way, using as many organic raw materials as possible. In the beginning, around 150 litres were brewed at a time, since 2021 300 litres. The hops are also grown locally as much as possible. The recipe is as traditional as possible, often with a historical (local) link, and all recipes are in the idiosyncratic hand of the brewer. In addition to the regular range, special one-off variations are brewed regularly.

Bottle at home thanks to Sinterklaas RW80! Clear mahogany with huge beige head. Light roast, strong dried dark fruits with plums, blue en blackberries, soft oak, sweet balsamico, old dusty herbs, light alcohol. Just medium sweet and over light sour with a surprisingly strong bittterness. Bit over medium bodied. Certainly not bad, I guess if this was more sour it could really work. As it is it’s a little too dusty bitter for me, but the aroma is surprisingly nice.

Bottle @ home. Clear lightly amber color, huge white to off-white head. Smell and taste malts, lightly hops in the distance, bitter. Tastes like most low alcohol beers: thin and mainly bitter, not a lot of flavor. Meh.
