The brewing is done on a small scale and in an artisanal way, using as many organic raw materials as possible. In the beginning, around 150 litres were brewed at a time, since 2021 300 litres. The hops are also grown locally as much as possible. The recipe is as traditional as possible, often with a historical (local) link, and all recipes are in the idiosyncratic hand of the brewer. In addition to the regular range, special one-off variations are brewed regularly.

Bottle [from trade with RW80, thanks Robert!] @ home. Nice dark red to dark amber brown color, full sized eventually quite creamy beige head that lasts for quite a long time. Aroma is malts, lightly iron, some sweetness, lightly raisins. Taste malts, lightly sweetish initially, raisins again lightly, a bit alcoholic which normally isn’t that annoying, but in this case I feel it gets in the way of the flavor in a way that I think there’s more to taste (dark, overripe fruits and perhaps more) but it just doesn’t come through now that the alcohol overpowers it. That said, I think this is one of the best "first (commercial) try" barley wines I’ve ever tasted, though I admit that the total number is limited. Anyway, think they’ve made a real good start with this one. Given time this could turn out to be a very solid barley wine style exemple imo.
