750mo bottle from the lcbo. Outstanding aroma of limes, citrus, and touches of honey. The flavor is more citrus, sweet, soft mouthfeel, light bitterness. A delicate beer, big aromas and flavors of citrus, some subtle grass, and a little pine. Quite impressive, great stuff!

750ml wax dipped bottle from the LCBO. Dark hazy brown, small off white head. The aroma smacks of sweet/sour vanilla oak. Reminds me big time of a bbq sauce i made with jack daniels. There are also hints of raisins and plums, and some big sugary malts. Jesus the bourbon barrel just beats the shit out of this beer. Its all over the place. Dipping in and out. The barrel is there, then gone, then back. Subtle spicy notes, lots of fruit, but the spicy, sour, sweet bourbon barrel oaky vanilla just takes over everything. The alcohol is really well hidden though, and the body is a little thiner than i expected. Interesting to say the least,

On tap at Volo.
sticky sweet aroma with some spice (cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon) and some sweet butterscotch. Not sure the sweetness goes well with this quite pungent spiciness. I found the flavor and finish to be cloying, and the spices were overpowering. The oak was next to impossible to find. I think if the spices were dialed back the oak might come thourgh, and this would be a better beer.

Cask days 2012. Vinegar nose, balsamic, some fruit, apples, pears. A little campfire, and soy are in the aroma also. Acidic mouthfeel, a little sour, with a dry vinegary finish, with light smoke. Odd.....

Bottle at the Sudbury beerfest.
Pours a cloudy yellow, with a large fluffy white head. Great, tart, grassy, citric aroma. Very lively carb, and a active mouth feel. Medium bitterness, slight pepperiness, fresh cut grass, and big acidic, citric finish.

On tap at Bar Hop.
Great C-hop aroma, loads of citrus, but there is still a solid bready maltiness. Good carb, solod mouthfeel. Great citrusy finish. Just an all around great session pale ale, not too hoppy, but you get loads of great hop flavor, could drink it all night!

Very dark pour, with a tiny beige head. Quite dark fruity aroma with some very big roasted malt notes.
Body is a little thin, carb is a little low. finish was quite sweet, and hot, with some booze. not what i expect in an RIS.

On tap at the CNE.
Light hops, more pine than citrus. Big malt notes, maltier than hoppy. Slight roast, medium bitter finish. Meh.
Years later, Nickel Brook have dialed this beer in. This is now arguably the best widely available ipa in Ontario. Huge citrus notes, loads of grapefruit and citrus zest. My go to when itβs fresh. Outstanding.

Unbelievable aroma of rotting organic matter. Zero head, and a dull yellow pour. There is a nasty bitter vegetal flavor mixed with nasty grass clipping that have been rotting under a piece if plywood behind a shed all summer. Good god this iz one of the most vile beers ivr had on a LONG time. Drain pour, easily a .5 beer. Shit the ingredients say pear juice!?!?
(473ml can, labeled as just gluten free, and 5.8% alcohol, maybe a new entry?)

Volo Cask Days 2009. You can tell they used alot of hops in this beer, the aroma proves it, there are some good citric aromas, that smell promissing. The flavor though is an oaky, woody, hoppy, mess. The wood just killed this beer, it does not go well with the hops at all. It was a sweet woody mess.

Nothing outstanding. A good aroma of British hops, slightly malty flavor but the finish is wattery.
