Description
Centuries of brewing tradition, the best ingredients and strict compliance with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516 are quality that you can taste with every sip! The Rittmayer Brewery is one of the oldest breweries in Forchheimer Land. The family business dates back to 1422. The brewery even received its own coat of arms certificate from the Count of Kulmbach because of its good beer.
In spring 2012, our new brewery on the outskirts of Hallerndorf went into operation right next to our filling center. It is one of the most innovative medium-sized breweries in all of Germany.

Bottled (Pikkulintu, BB 10/2009). Deep amber-copper color, small off-white head. Strong Islay whisky aroma, wet wood. Malty, not hoppy (only maybe some grass), smokey - lots of Islay whisky character ... Very uncommon German beer.

50cl Swingtop bottle from De Bierkoning. Comes as Hallerndorfer Rauchbier, ABV 4.9%. Slightly hazy amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of smoked ham, a little tar, nutty caramel. Flavour is a bit sweet, nuts, caramel, a bit of smoke. Smokey bitter finish. Medium bodied. Really smooth and soft, light smoke notes, easy drinking and full of flavours.

Bottle, at LCRBM 2008, ’s Hertogenbosch, Netherlands
Clear, amber body. Off-white, fizzy head. Quite good, very intense aroma of smoke, wood (oak/birch) and some crispy malts. Quite weak, smokey flavour (moderately bitter) - not as intense as the aroma. Ok, but not brilliant.

Bottled (from Cracked Kettle). Honeyish golden colour, mediumsized creamy/foamy white head. Aroma is caramel malts, bread and some quite earthy notes along with mild grassy hops. Flavour is raisins, some alcohol, fruits and mild grassy notes in the finish. Rather different aroma and flavour in this one. Alcohol shows a bit in the flavour as a sweet stingy not, which is not that disturbing, but still is there.

Re-rate from bottle: Cloudy orange-amber, off-white cream, fine carbonation. Caramel malt base, light orangepeel, herbal/juniper aroma. Medium body, mellow mouthfeel, metallic salty/clayish notes, dry bitter middle - otherwise low on hop notes. Falls a little bit flat in the flavor profile. Old rating: 5 4 5 3 8 Light yeast aroma. Cloudy red, off-white creamy head. A hint caramel, medium body, mellow mouthfeel, not much going on here, frankly boring.
