Description
Centuries of brewing tradition, the best ingredients and strict compliance with the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516 are quality that you can taste with every sip! The Rittmayer Brewery is one of the oldest breweries in Forchheimer Land. The family business dates back to 1422. The brewery even received its own coat of arms certificate from the Count of Kulmbach because of its good beer.

In spring 2012, our new brewery on the outskirts of Hallerndorf went into operation right next to our filling center. It is one of the most innovative medium-sized breweries in all of Germany.

Okay, so this bottle was consumed near the end of a long day of drinking german beer - they were all good - this one was fairly good as well, but I quickly noticed that I had exhausted all the descriptors I could use to describe a german lager - yes it’s crisp - yes it’s grassy - yes, there is a nice balancing bitterness - some beers do it better than this one - others do not - it’s a good german beer - that is all.

Gravity pour at Spuyten Duyvil - dark copper pour - thick, soapy head - semi-bready, somewhat fruity aroma - some cherry-like fruitiness to the flavor - lightly bready and doughy - some apparent yeast in the flavor, not as clean as other beers I had this day - a little caramel like sweetness - not too shabby.

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet malty, and so is the flavor, though added light notes of both straw and metal. The body is thin.

(swing top bottle) Hazy, golden to copper colour with a thick and dense off-white foamy head. Sweet and slightly nutty toast-malty aroma with caramel and shy herbal hops. Sweet and slightly yeasty-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Toasty malt-accented, slightly yeasty and nutty taste with notes of caramel and a delicate herbal hoppy blend; moderately dry and slightly bitter finish. Well-rounded brew (21.IX.08).

Bottled. An unclear dark golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet wheaty with light notes of banana and spices. The flavor is sweet wheaty which also lends it a slight acidity, leading to a dry wheaty finish. The body is thin - no wonder.
