Full pint of this Wetherspoon festival ale at The Playfair, Lloyds no.1 Bar, in Edinburgh. Hazy amber with a reddish tint. Malt-fruity accented smell. Moderate degrees of late oranges in the mouth continuing into a rounded aftertaste of hop bitterness. Tame impression. Rather disappointing, I would say [14.11.2008].

Half pint real ale at JDWs beer festival, The Counting House in Dundee. Missing head. Clear amber body. Fresh floral smell with mandarin hints. Juicy malt with succulent citrus fruits in flavour. Refreshing dry ending [07.11.2008].

(Cask at Crosse Keys JDW, London City, 20 Nov 2008) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, nutty nose with dried fruit, caramel and sugar or honey. Malty, nutty taste with notes of dried fruit, prunes and caramel. Low bitterness with the hops disappearing in the sweet and nutty malt. Medium body, fairly sweet. Interesting, not bad, but hardly amazing. In short: sweet caramel with roasted nuts.

Cask Conditioned at J.D. Wetherspoon - The Knight’s Templar, London
Amber color. Simple aroma, light honey. The sweet caramel flavor is pleasant, with a light touch of cookies, balanced, easily drinkable, with correct final bitterness. Easy but pleasant.

Cask handpull at Crosse Keys JDW. That’s a bit startling. Very distinctive, not sure I entirely like it. It’s a bit dusty and earthy. Quite full. Not entirely pleasant. toffeeish.

Cask at Crosse Keys JDW. Gold, copper colour, hoppy, but English hoppy aroma, not as big as I expected. Even slightly watery in mouth, bit of ginger hop spice on finish, bit dull really. Not the American Pale Ale, I was really anticipating and looking forward to.

Cask at The Penny Black, JDW, Bicester, Oxon Nov 2008. Pours light amber with a slim tight white creamy head. Some peach and apricot on the nose, light fruitiness in the mouth with an edgey but not harsh bitterness running through it. Light caramel also shows at the end, its nice but served a little too warm.
