About
The Cromarty Brewing Co is a family run business consisting of Craig, Chap and Jenni Middleton. Craig, our fanatical founding brewer studied the science of brewing at Heriot Watt University and the art of beer making in the student accommodation and flat basements. After finishing the course he went on to do some work in various breweries to gain valuable experience. It was during this time that he decided he wanted to get his own beers to market.

In the spring of 2011 construction of the brewery started on the shed works and some awesome stainless steel was ordered from Bavarian Brewery Technologies. Hectic times and long hours later led to the first of the casks rolling out on the 19th December 2011.

Keg at The Anderson. It pours lightly hazy golden - blonde with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is rich bready malts, doughy, sweet, cereal, toasty grain, grass, touch of nuttiness, melon, apple, light pear and some baked goods. The taste is dry, firm, bitter - sweet, bready, biscuit, baked goods, cereal, nuttiness, grassy, nuttiness, hit of melon/apple/pear and limited alcohol presence with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Dangerously drinkable. Balanced and moreish.

Keg at the Guildford, Edinburgh, 24/02/23. Deep chestnut brown with a well presented beige covering. Nose is stewed fruits, toffee, figs, spice, hint of alcohol. Taste comprises tangy fruits, light smoke, brown sugar dusting, burnt toffee, dates. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light kiss of alcohol. Decent for the style.

Black beer, tan head. Smell has toasty malt, dried fruit. Flavour has dried fruit, some berries, rye, toasted malt, a touch of anise, sugar, Bourbon. Rich with boozy warmth, a little of the wood coming through in the finish. This is a winner.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours cloudy pale orange with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet, juicy, tangy, big tropical vibes, passion fruit, mango, peach, papaya, nectarine, touch of sherbet, touch green, weedy and piney. The taste is dry, nice kick of bitterness, bitter - sweet, juicy, bright, deep tropical fruit vibes, mango, passion fruit, peach, orange, tangerine, nectarine, bready malt base, green, weedy, dank, pine, prickly spice and light alcohol. Finish is dry and orangey. Medium body and moderate, massaging carbonation. Bright and lovely. So moreish. Great.
