Draught at Tip Tap Room, 7/14/16.
Absolutely beautiful dark violet color shows a high clarity, plentiful crimson highlights and a beige head atop that is small, but sits at cover nicely.
Huge burst of acetic and lactic acid in the nose definitely signals the bacterial fermentation here. Hot on its toes are juicy, intense, tart blackberry and blueberry aromatics bursting with wine-like acidity and showing light black pepper-like spiciness.
After having this beer on draught (versus the other raters having it in bottle, which is quite often the case with this brewery and my ratings of it), it’s pretty clear that there’s a high variance on their bottles, which is fair, as they’re a tiny operation making unfiltered, very wild/sour/fruited beers. Anyhow, there’s no diacetyl present here, no ammonia, no problems whatsoever.
What you do have, is an absolutely massive amount of pure sourness. It took me a number of cringes, shaking my head and deep breaths after the first handful of sips. Intense lactic-acetic sourness backed by rich, strong, tart fruit flavors. But it’s all carried on by an exquisitely tight, champagne-like carbonation and good attenuation. There’s definitely some rich, syrupy fruit character left behind and it pleasantly helps to balance the sourness, itself adding rich blueberry and blackberry jam flavors. Soft texture with tons of fruit and intense, lingering, enamel-stripping sourness.

Draught at Tip Tap Room, 6/24/16.
Very clear, pale, straw-golden with a medium-sized white head that fades steadily to cover.
Belgian yeast in the nose isn’t exactly as classy as I was hoping/expecting, given how much respect I have for the brewer. Perhaps it’s because there’s some hop resin mixed in, but it comes off as heavily bubble gum-like, with lots of nectarine, peach and candy-like melon notes. Some crackery, bare, grainy malt behind it does very little to soften things and there’s a good deal of grassiness on the finish. Vaguely tropical at times, but just barely. No alcohol noted in aroma.
Malty in the texture, yet with very little sweetness, which I normally enjoy, but here, against all of the heavy grassiness, bitterness and grainy flavors, it doesn’t balance. Melon, nectarine, apple, dry pineapple and light notes of alcohol with the bubble gum coming on strong in the finish. It doesnt deliver the complexity or wealth of flavors you’d expect from an 8% beer but rather falls flat with inelegant flavors and too much grassy bitterness.

Draft at Haymaker. Dank, grassy, and a little funky. Definite weed smell. Gold put with a small white head and light lace. Taste very dry and dank. Finishes bitter and dry. Interesting beer, that I'm not sure entirely whether I liked or loved.
