Dark brown, chocolate and coffee, subtle liquorice character and a long, sweet chocolatey finish. Full body. Good, complex stout.

Bottle from Whole Foods in Davis, CA. Pours translucent gold with a white head. Aroma is bread and a sort of herb/citrus. All rather mild. Med body. Flavor is pretty malty, reminding me of a honey ale in a way. Interesting. How to make an ale taste like a lager.

Bottled 33cl PBFVIII
Dark brown color, small brown head. Some coffeish notes, sweetish caramel. Light to medium bodied. Watery palate, some chocolate, lingering hoppyness. Clean but a bit too watery.

Keg at the brewpub - Cabo. Pours clear brown with a khaki foam head. Not bad, plenty of earth, dry roast, supple cocoa, burn tobacco, moderate sweetness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Some cocoa to finish, burnt leaves, earthy bitterness, mild tobacco. Nice.

Keg at the brewpub - Cabo. Pours clear brown with a light, creamy tan head. Fair effort here. Some doughy brown bread, soft roast, mild coffee grounds, earth. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Light bitter earth to finish, more mild roasted malts, burnt sugars. Decent.

Keg at the brewpub - Cabo. Noted as 7% but this doesn’t taste that strong. Pours clear gold, lightly effervescent with a foamy, white head. Probably one of the weaker efforts. A bit of diacetyl presence, some mellow pine, bread, hints of tangy citrus. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel. Alright finish, just some bready malts and mild piney bitterness. So so.

Keg at the brewpub - Cabo. Pours clear gold with a foamy white head. A preety good overall beer. Some nice, dry and bready malts, a bit of pine and orange and rind. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Reasonbly biuter to finish, some pine, citrus peel, dry bread. Good one.

Keg at the brewpub - Cabo. Pours clear gold with a modest, foamy white head. Not bad, like a doughy ale with raspberry accents. Light to medium sweet, hints of raspberry seeds and hay. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet white bread and raspberry in the end. Good effort.

Keg at the brewpub - Cabo. Pours hazy gold with a creamy white head. Pretty basic stuff but lacks the Belgian yeast character I would like to see. Some doughy wheat, subtle cereal, lemon rind. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Decent.

Keg at the brewpub - Cabo. Pours mostly clear yellow with a fine, creamy white head. Simple pale malt base here, lightly tangy lemon, dough, slight cereals. Light bodied with average spritzy carbonation. Clean finish, subtle straw bitterness, doughy pale malts. Tasty, refreshing.
