Description
Fallen Angel Brewery was established in East Sussex in 2004 and soon became popular with its unique chilli ales and ciders. Combining the well documented benefits of beer with the nutritional benefits of chilli’s, including boosting circulation, improving heart health and lowering cholesterol not to mention the endorphin rush. Fallen Angel became widely known across the chilli fraternity and beer enthusiasts. It’s tagline being “modern ales- brewed traditionally”, the brewery continues to experiment and expand its range.

In 2012 the brewery moved to the East of England and Broxbourne Brewery became the home of the Fallen Angel. Moved to Essex in 2013. In 2015 the Brewery name reverted to the name Fallen Angel.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. This one is 4.5%. Appearance - amber and lively on opening. Then the head fizzed frantically before dying completely. Nose - light green chilli and mainly caramel. Taste - caramel again and the chilli builds down the glass. Palate - close to medium bodied, slightly sweet but the chilli dries it a little. Overall - better than I'd expected.

Bottle bought at Eastbourne Beer Festival, October 2017. Drunk about 3 months out of date. Thankfully, it is not that spciy. Interesting yeasty, sour smell. Murky brown colour. Not a huge amuont of taste, more about the palate which is a mix of sweet and spicy. Not great but hey did not have high hopes! As with all chilli beers though, it gets old kinda quick...500ml bottle is a challenge

500ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie, Jan 19. Thanks Jeremy for bringing this. Clear gold, small bubbly ring which recedes with no lacing. Aroma greets you with green pepper / green japapeno from a dirty kebab shop, pickled green chilis. Taste continues along these lines. Assumed it would be fiery, but it’s not. Can't see myself willingly revisiting this.

4/10/2018. Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a quite attractive deep amber with an average sized off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, rotting fruit, rusty nails and cough drops. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Label says it's a beer for the serious beer lover. Don't think so.
