Yet another beer that I’m amazed I haven’t rated before ! have drunk it many a time. Anyway, this time on tap at Hops, Crewe. Pours a dark reddish-brown with minimal off-white head. The aroma has raisins and malts, with just a hint of caramel. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with a chewy texture. Dark fruits and raisins dominate the flavour, though later on there are hints of liquorice, cherries and strawberries. The previously unnoticed alcoholic comes to the fore in the boozy and fruity finish. This is excellent – a true classic 1
