Cask, half pint at The Welkin (JDW), Liverpool. Slightly cloudy amber. Almost naked surface. Fruit-malty aroma. Some dark fruits and malts in flavour. Vapid bitterness. Little to offer and, in fact, not quite good in the mouth (04.05.2009).

Cask at JDW Standing order Edinburgh ... Copper thin creamy head ... light toffee nose ... musty soft malts fruitts ...light mellow toffee ... bitter linger and blah.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Gold with a thin cream head; earthy malt aroma; thin with an unpleasant sharp metallic flavour and a dry herbal finish. Horrible.

Cask (gravity) @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009, Manchester, England. [ As Hydes Owd Oak ]. Clear dark brown color with virtually none head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, berry, oak, cabbage water notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft to flat. Cask (gravity) @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009, Manchester, England.Clear medium to dark amber color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, caramel, chocolate, sour malt, sour fruit, apples. Flavor is moderate sweet and sour with a average duration. Body is medium to light, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is flat. [20090123]

Cask-conditioned at the Shakespeare, Bristol, 7/04/09. Deep gold in colour with a slight, off-white head. Apricot, hay and grassy hop aroma. Sweetish flavour, with some prickly, dusty hops, a whiff of sulphur and a gentle, slightly sweet finish. Good.

Cask (handpump) @ The White Lion. 24 James Street, Covent Garden, London, England WC2E.Clear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, fruity - orange - exotick - mango, sweet excotick fruit, moderate hoppy. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090101]

cask at cloisters edinburgh ... copper ... sweet toffee and vanilla nose ... again the same tones in flavour ... ligth bitterness ... quite rich
