Description
In 1865, William Moorhouse, a local Burnley lad, founded the brewery. He took great pride in his home town and his craft, originally producing mineral waters. In 1870, he built his own brewery, producing renowned beers, including his low alcohol Hop Bitters for the temperance bars across the North West.
Rejuvenation
Hard times hit in 1985 and Bill Parkinson, a local man passionate about beer, was sipping a pint of Pendle Witches Brew one day, when he heard of the plight of the brewery. He bought it, invested in a new brew plant and the rest is history. With many twists and turns along the way, we have embraced the traditions, values and entrepreneurial spirit of our founder ready for exciting times ahead.

Bright light golden with a white head
A - sweet citrus grapefruit with a bready malt character
F - slightly soapy/floral/citrus hop character and fairly bitter finish
Its definately on the british side of hoppyness, but its nicely balanced and easy drinking

Cask at Moon under Water, Wigan. Pours golden brown with a medium sized foamy creamish head and good lacing. Is slow to settle but does so eventually. The aroma is an attractive blend of traditional hops and autumn fruits. In the mouth it fluctuates between sweet and bitter with a creamy texture. Flavours are malts, traditional hops, toffee and autumn fruits with hints of dried fruit and ginger coming through later. Finish is slightly dry. This is quite nice – the epitome of how a traditional bitter should be.
