Tap. Rutland Arms, Sheffield. Clear bronze. Skim of sticky, white head. Nose has big, sweet, toffee malts. Oily, resinous hop. Some jammy fruit. Taste is sticky sweet. Oily bitterness too. Not much in between. Palate is full and heavy, despite the prickly carbonation. Oily bitterness continues at the end. Feels the whole 10.4%. Simplistic, boozy sugar bomb.

Tap. Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield. Very hazy gold. Bubbly, persistent, white head. Tangy, yeasty, bready malts. Lime juice. Lime zest. Has an off note that I can’t put my finger on. It’s super tangy, to the point of sourness. Maybe that’s how a Mojito is? Anyway, it’s pretty drinkable. Crisp, tart finish.

Cask at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe, 30/12/15. Clear golden blonde with a decent off white covering. Nose is light pine, tangerine, straw, floral notes, orange. Taste comprises orange pith, toasted bread, crackers, lemon drizzle. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a spattering of juicy hop bitterness. Decent enough hoppy cask fayre.

Tap. Devonshire Cat, Sheffield. Clear, amber colour. Thin, lasting, white head. Good, juicy, tropical fruit hoppage. Toffee malts to match. Taste is juicy bitter. Quite zesty, really. Soft chew on the palate. Fruity bitter finish. Some lip stickage going on. Good stuff. IPA though?
