Keg at the Maypole, Cambridge. Dark gold, ever so slightly hazy. Healthy film of white head. Pine resin and bubblegum take no prisoners in the heady bouquet. The taste is equally uncompromising: the initial resinous sweetness falls prey to an intense bitterness. Long bitter finish with some woody spruce in the aftertaste. One hell of a West Coast ale. I could drink this all night.

Cask, small glass on a sampler tray at Six Degrees North. Almost black in body appearance. Fawn-coloured head. Sweet smell of chocolate, nuts and distant dough. Similar flavours of nuts, mild chocolate and earthy malts. Prolonged ending. Developing taste profile. Not overly sweet. Decent stuff (Aberdeen 12.04.2016).

Cask at Six Deg North, ABZ. It pours darkest brown / near black with a thick light tan head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, roasted maltage, creaminess, dull toasted coconut and bounty bar. The taste is smooth, quite sweet, creamy, earthy roast, toasted coconut, milk chocolate and some bounty bar with a dry, toasty finish. Light - medium body and fine carbonation. Great condition. I like the idea, but it is perhaps just a bit sweet and light. Decent enough.
