50cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. Pale straw with a billowing, fast-fading white head and high carbonation to start; earthy German hop aroma; crisp and grainy in the mouth with some honey for sweetness and a touch of citrus; and a light grassy bitterness to finish. A good attempt at the classic Pilsner style.

Cask at the 3 Guineas, Reading, 12/04/13. Clear copper brown with a beige head. Good lacing ensues. Nose is malt forward, caramel, dark fruits. Taste comprises much the same, toffee, fruits, malty. Medium bodied with fine carbonation with a good dose of bitterness in the finish. A tidy enough bitter!

Cask at the Devonshire Arms, Cambridge. Pours clear, golden-brown with a fine, off-white foam head. Some dirt on the nose, with pleasant toasted bread. Light sweet flavor, some dry and toasty bread, light burnt leaves and earth. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Light sweet finish, some mellow sticky toasted sugars, light earthy bitterness, brown bread, burnt leaves. It’s very simple beer, but easy to drink.

Cask at the Nags HEad, Reading. A slightly hazy pale amber with a thin white head; floral, hay aroma; a light, floral, bitter taste and a sweet biscuity body, followed by a lingering soft bitterness. Surprisingly good, not to thin, and very drinkable, but rather unexciting.
