Cask at the Half Moon, Windlesham - Christmas Eve 24/12/13. Mahgony brown with a thin off white head that soon dissipates to nothing. Nose is dark toffee, dark fruits, spice, lactic ring, raisens, figs. Taste comprises Christmas cake, dark fruit tang, dates, raisens, brown sugar, dark toffee, spice, lightly soured fruit lick. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, drying finale with a little bitterness combined with spice. So so Xmas affair, thinking the conditioning wasn’t in its prime this time round!

50cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. Deep cola colour with an amber glow and a ring of white head; aroma of demarara sugar; soft and sugary in the mouth - but not sweet, as there is also an intense, licoricey, smokey, bitterness. A good stout with a lengthy finish.
