Cask at the Dog & Gun, Keswick. Cat was tricked into buying this for Justin by the humourously rebadged name of Woof and Bang Best Bitter. After it turned out that the Best bit of the name was a misnomer Justin generously shared it with me - thanks Jus! On the plus side I'd managed to avoid the GK House beer up until now so at least it was a new rate. It was dark amber with an off-white head. It tasted of toffee, stewed tea and damp, dirty twigs. Too sweet, and distinctly sub par. In short, everything I expected of a GK house beer and less.

Cask at the Corstorphine Inn. Pours clear chestnut with a thin white head. Aromas of toffee and nuts. Taste is more of the same. Thin, chalky finish.

Copper color with a mild earthy and malty aroma. Starts with a caramel malt sweetness and finishes with floral bitterness, which lingers. Lasting foam.

Better than I expected. Nitro can. Caramel color with a huge creamy beige head that left excellent lacing. Toasty and sweetish with caramel, toffee and faint fruit. Long finish. Medium bodied and smooth.

[On tap at the Utilita Bowl, Southampton, while watching England getting thrashed by Australia in the IT20] A pale amber pour with a creamy white head; citrus aroma; weak tropical fruit taste; and a watery finish. Not too bad for an all-day session beer.

22/8/2024. Cask at the 32nd East Anglian Beer & Cider Festival. Pours almost clear mahogany brown with a minimally bubbly head. Super aroma. Woody, vanilla, whisky, toffee, butterscotch, chocolate, coffee, sherry, dried fruits. Medium sweetness, moderate boozy bitterness, touch tart. Medium to full body, smooth, very soft carbonation. Warming, bittersweet, with a touch of alcohol sour in the finish. I never imagined I'd enjoy a GK beer as much as this.
