A dark amber almost brown beer with a fine head. The aroma is sweet and fruity wiht hints of honey. The flavor is strong, sweet and spicy wiht hints of honey and the alcohol content. It is a very filling beer ending wiht a nice dryness.

2008-01-05, Cask conditioned at Cockney Pub, Århus, 6-4-6-3-12=31
Hazy amber color with a creamy head. Light malty and hoppy aroma. Round mouthfeel, with some residual sugars; it has some toffee flavor; also a very strong bitterness, a bit harsh and metallic, maybe too much. Drinkable, but not special.
2003-08-20, Cask Conditioned, 5-4-5-4-12=30
Amber color, nice head. Reasonable, but not impressive, with most of all a caramel character.

Vintage Ale 2000 (2ys old)
Dark amber color, turning to brown; small and non persistent head. Light aroma; some malt and roasted malt, light hop; lightly fruity (red apples). Body weaker than expected, pretty dry; roasted malt and caramel, bitterness without interesting hop aroma. Some metallic character. Finishes with some liquorice, roasted malt and bitterness. Too much interest for this beer, the expectations are not met. [5-3-6-3-12]
Bottle, 2006-09-03, 6-3-6-3-12=30
Just caramel, a bit fruity, I’m still convinced that the bottled version is not as interesting as the cask.
Cask Conditioned
Much better than the bottled version, and to this one the rate applies.
Drk ruby color. Malt nose, vinous; light but original. Full body, quite original, with malt, caramel, hop and something more that I can’t reach... Pretty sweet; the bitterness is coming out slowly, but lasts for long. The bottled version should be banned!

A beutiful amber beer with an OK head. It has a slight aroma of hops. The flavor is flat, watery and only slightly bitter for an IPA, but from a very nice hops. I will not categorize this beer as an IPA - because of the lacking bitterness.

Sampled from cask. Light golden color, no head. This ale has everything I expect from a real ale: A aromatic hoppy nose and a wellbalanced hop taste....mmmhhhh

Very similar to Caffrey's in appearance and taste, but I thought this was slightly better. Very creamy with a long-lasting head. Butterscotch color during the pour was nice. Very mild flavor.

I like this one a little more than Boddington's. It is creamy and the flavor sits much better as you make your way through the brew. Score another for the guy who invented the widget!
