Paid $1.90 for a pint can single. Light amber with a big, frothy white head. Smells a lot like cheap ol’ beer. Average malty flavor... kinda weak.

Deep red body, thin-medium tan head. Definite woody aroma with notes of prune and tobacco leaf. Tannic body abounds with fig, wood, tobacco leaf, brown sugar, and cigars. A pleasure to slowly sip and enjoy the complexity and quality of this tasty English ale.

[Cask at Charlie's Bar, Copenhagen] An orange beer with a small dense white head. The aroma is lightly hoppy. The flavor is nicely hoppy with notes of grass, oil, and quite fruity. A fine bitter. I love Triumph - had a Triumph motorbike last year!

If any beer smells like iced tea it’s this one- Abbot Ale pours (from a one-pint can) with a pungent leafy aroma suggestive of tea leaves and tobacco, with a brown sugar and caramel malt backdrop. The body is clear copper with an initially unwieldy light tan nitrogen head that diminishes to the perfect size. The flavor is light and the body is very thin, but leafy hops and caramel/brown sugar malts are apparent along with a metallic aftertaste. Subtle.

2003 bottle. Good chestnut brown color, clear unfortunately, but quite pleasantly colored. Good violet/brown tinges around the edges, and a good yellowish head. Smells like light oak, prunes, figs, light maple and brown sugar. Flavor is lightly sweet, dry oak, tart cherries, caramel, toffee, quite complex stuff here! The oak is just noticeable enough. A bit dry and lifeless on the finish, but a wonderful old ale, to be sure. Medium to medium full body, some thinning on the end.

Clean amber color. No hop aroma: grass, caramel, sugar. Too light and poor mouthfeel, just some malt and the necessary bitterness. Easy drink; not at all an IPA!
