2006 bottle. Expressive, fruity, strong, clear nose is not a blast of heavy grapefruit or pine resin (it contains some of both) but more a softer, rounder, more varied nose. Sweet oranges, lush lemons and some definite pink grapefruit are well-supported by lightly sweet melons and a bit of floral-herbal notes reminiscent of light wintergreen and leafy hops. Some light yeast/b-vitamin notes support the claim that this is 6.8 abv (though no sign of alcohol). Soft, fluffy white dough for malt with light sugars and a bit of toastiness on the end that prevents it from just dying out after the hops make their impression. Mostly dry of malt and aromatic hops. In the flavor, a touch of crunchy, dry malt brushes against the tongue as hops build slowly but inevitably all about. Some sharp acids are banished to the end as citrus fruit flavors intertwine with very lean caramel and base sugars to provide a balanced, soft, smooth mouthfeel and flavor. Some snappy hop bitterness lingers on, with no alcohol and a bit of breadiness and light melon. Foamy white head laces sporadically and is fairly well retained. Body is amber-orange with canteloupe tones and bottle conditioned bubbles. While the malt there is soft/fluffy and interesting, it could use a bit more depth. The breadiness and dry caramel build up too much (slightly).

Bottle Pours a nice clear deep mahogany with a small thin off white head. The coarse bubbles do not lend to very good lacing. Very nice aromas of sweet woody malts, with maple, brown sugar, apples and molassas. Flavor is woody, earthy and slightly metallic. A bit like sucking on a penny. I like the other flavors however and this dowes not detract. Like a lager, the feel is a bit thin, and the carbonation is soft. Nice flavors all around and rather sweet and lightly hopped. Suprised by the ABV, hidden well. Nice.

Pours a deep, hazy amber with a half inch of frothy head that lasted most of the glass. Aroma is strong with hoppiness. Taste begins with a smooth malt, into an intense hop flavor with floral and citrus tones. An excellent IPA.
