Can from Bert’s Fairly clear reddish amber color with a frothy off white head. Peppery spicy bready aromas with hints of brown sugar. Lots more malt in the flavor; big caramel and brown sugar with hints of chocolate. Peppery spicy pine cuts through the sweetness quite well. Lingering light ginger and drying wood tannin long after each sip. Its a bit different, and beats the hell out of any pumpkin based autumn ale.

This was poured into a pilsener glass.
The appearance was a semi-bronzed orange to amber color with a one to two finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than about a minute. Lacing speckled the glass nicely.
The smell started off with sweet grassy to a colorful caramel/toffee maltiness rolling in to balance decently.
The taste was moderately malty sweet with an underscore of the caramel/toffee running into the grassiness balancing on in to the aftertaste and leading into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation, uh...what carbonation, as its barely there, its really smooth and gives off a nicely done creaminess to it.
Overall, for a California common, its a bit different, me I don’t mind it. Its definitely a food beer, I could see myself having this again.

Pours deep gold into an English pint. White head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Pine and resin aromas. Thick with sweet caramel and resin upfront turning slightly cloying in the lasting hot bitter caramel finish.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2015. Deep amber colour lasting beige head. Now that is quite nice pear drops pine resin. Lovely balanced. Best American ipa so far.

Pours a dark amber from a can, a few floaties. Smells like sweat and sex. Flavor is a caramel, piney bittersweetness. Thin mouthfeel. Meh.
