Frothy tan head on a near black body. The nose is classic stout, with chocolate first and coffee underneath. The taste features some powerful elements - bitter chocolate, very freshly ground coffee, creaminess with raisins. The big elements resolve nicely. There is no fooling around here. Big fresh, challenging tastes.

Draught into a pint glass. Don’t think they knew this guy was a dubbel. Anyway it was a pretty ambery brown color. Little head. Dark fruits and malts. Similar taste. Decent.

Pours a muddy medium brown. Not much head. Light caramel toffee aroma and taste. Thin consistency. Bitters. Ok but not amazing by any neans.

Bottle. Pours reddish brown with small foamy light beige head, caramel aroma, high carbonation, medium bitter taste with molasses, plum and a bit of metallic twang, thin body, medium finish. Not bad, but there is strange metallic taste.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a semi-golden yellow color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a decent pace. Some stringy lace.
The aroma had some peaches and grassy hops.
The flavor leaned into the sweetness of the blend. Same sort of aftertaste and finish, which was fairly sticky.
The feel was between light and medium bodied with a decent sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine.
Overall, trying to figure out why this is considered a \"specialty grain\" as there wasn’t any rye in it. Unless I missed it. Then again, it is Davidson.
