Description
Established 1666 - Closed 1989 - Re-established 2010 - Re-named 2022
One of the greatest names in British brewing, Truman's has been a part of London life for almost 350 years. Closed in 1989 during dark days for the brewing industry, we have been working hard to bring Truman's back to its former glory. We craft an eclectic range of great beer in cask, keg and can at our new brewery in Hackney Wick. Everything we brew, we do with with skill, belief and passion.
The brewery in Hackney Wick was closed in June 2022 but the award-winning recipes are now brewed under contract for the three venues and online sales.
From Thursday 15 September, Truman’s Beer will be known as Big Penny, following the acquisition of the trademark by the management team at the Old Truman Brewery announced earlier this year.

Cask; hand-pulled pint in the Knights Templar (Spoons), London on 12th Sep 2014. Pours a good looking mahogany colour, clear and clean, on top an off-white covering of tight bubbles. Malts all the way here, treacle like molasses taste and aroma, yet with a hop calming bitterness always tempering the sweetness. A very good blend of flavours with the malts being the very dominant partner.

Cask in The Bacchus, Birmingham city centre on 30th Aug 2014. My hand-pulled pint had an amber body with a full white head that hung around. Hops rule the aroma and taste with mild citrus flavours beating off everything else. Bitter finish with a fruity centre in the mouth, not too bad at all and a good first pint of a long hard pub crawl around Brum.
