Cask at Alexandra Hotel, Derby. Served through a sparkler. Pours deep brown with a beige towards tan cap. Aroma: toasted bread, caramel, also liquorice & chocolate hints. Taste: light sweet & bitter, dry, light roasted malts, bread, caramel. Light body with fine carbonation. Spot on, delicious!

From tap at Champion, Kensington, London 12.12.21. Served without using a sparkler. Clear mahogany. Head is diminishing to nothing. No lacing. Appropriately uncarbonated. Aroma and taste of medium dark malt, brittle, bark, prunes, balanced with medium bitterness and subtle hops.

Handpull cask at the Ship, Talbot Court, City of London. Very dark gold/bronze and clear with a fluffy beige head. Sulphurous, astringent aroma with malt notes and the earthlings of Goldings. Deep malty sweetness is only half-heartedly challenged by the spicy hop. Long sweet finish, just a little bit cloying. Full body, soft carbonation. It's decent enough for a Brains beer (my last Brains tick must have been ages ago), but it's not that clever a recipe really.

Another beer that I have been drinking for years, but not got around to rating. I first drank this at the Old Brewery Tap in Cardiff in 1986, when it was superb. Anyway, cask at Moon Under Water, Wolverhampton. Pours the classic โbitter brownโ with a small white head and good lacing. Has a subtle aroma of malts and grains. In the mouth it is sweet and fruity with some underlying bitterness. Floral hops cvan be detected as well, and the finish is fairly bitter. This beer is living on its past glories.

Bottle from my local grocery store โLocoโ. Pours a very deep copper colour with a medium sized throthy off-white head. Aromas of caramel, toasty bread and spice. Taste has more caramel, toasty bread, peppery spice and some added dry dark fruits and biscuits. Some earthy hop linger the palate on the finish. Medium body, average carbonation and slightly oily mouthfeel. Not bad but a bit boring.

Panda at home, thanks to SHIG, 30/08/21. Light black with a good sized tan head that stays for the show. Nose is cocoa powder, toffee, dried fruits, brown bread, nutty tones. Taste comprises brown bread, fruit slice, cocoa sprinkle, brown sugar dusting, raisins. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid flavoursome mild.

Bottle thanks to Sarky: Poured a deep brown black with a creamy light brown head. Aroma is rich roasted malts, hint of chocolate, ashy. Taste is bitter forward, then the thick chocolate roasted malts roll in. A good drinking mild.

Amber ale with a bubbly off-white head and a very faint aroma of fruity malt. It's sweet and malty, pretty thin, with a mildly bitter finish and a hint of spice going on
