Description
At Brains we are proud to be Welsh & proud that we remain family owned.

Brains beers were brewed in the Old Brewery on St Mary Street from 1882 right up to 1999 when operating from such a tight city-centre site became unviable. Fortunately, the Cardiff Brewery behind Cardiff Central station was up for sale and Brains production moved to a new home. However exciting new redevelopments in the centre of the city have led to a further move and the building of the brand new state of the art Dragon Brewery in Cardiff Bay which was opened in March 2019.

Bottle, Spar by Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. Dark Chestnut colour with a thin to non existent beige head. Vague malty aroma. Slim trace of fruit in the flavour but very lifeless and boring. Couldn’t finish 500ml of this. Neeeext !

Cask (Gatekeeper JDW,Cardiff) - Copper coloured with a slight haze. Lightly fruity aroma with some malt. Lightly tart taste with fruity hints. This could be on the turn so I think I will rate it again in future. Judging from DruncanVeasey’s comments below, this could’ve been a bad batch as I remember it being much better when I tried it before.

Draught (Clwb Ifor Bach,Cardiff) - Golden in colour with some light grapefruit hints. Fruity taste with grapefruit and peach. More like a golden ale than a lager like it is intended to be like.

Cask (Goat Major,Cardiff) - Golden in colour with a small head. Hoppy aroma with grapefruit notes. Hoppy taste with more grapefruit notes, a light spicy hint and a hint of peach. One of the best golden ales that I have tried from a regional brewer.
