Bottle on the 10.43 Euston to Cotteridge express ... think someone gave me this, 24/01/15. Hazed orange amber with a decent light beige covering that retains well. Nose is earthy, bitter fruits, bitter orange, bready malt, yeast. Taste comprises more bitter fruit rinds and orange, light yeast, bready, straw. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, astringent bitterness in the close. Not great.

Bottle, train on route to the Cotteridge Convention. Bottle thanks to to big dirrrty Colin. It pours hazy amber with a thick off-white head. The nose is earthy, toasty, brown bread and some mild fruity sweetness. The taste is bitter, toasty grain, acrid bitterness, light peppery spice, earth and some pithy citrus with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. There is a harshness to it. Not exactly the classic train beer as T-Bois described it....

On cask at the Bow Bar. Appearance - opaque black like crude oil and with a lovely fawn crema head. Nose - really dark chocolate with a raisin note. Taste - more dark chocolate and raisins. There’s a light wood and cognac note as you swallow. Actually it’s quite oxidised. If it was a wine it would imply corked. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a balanced dry finish. Overall - complex and interesting.

On cask @ Cloisters. Appearance - slightly hazy, hamber with a nicely proportioned head. Nose - fudge, earthiness. Taste - more of the fudge but astringently dry on the finish. Palate - light to medium bodied with a crunchy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - just on the cusp of being too astringent but not bad.
