Description
The Rothaus Brewery was founded 1791 through the Benedictine monastery St. Blasien in the “Zum Rothen Haus” inn (“To the Red House” in English). Following the secularizations of 1806, the Rothaus Brewery fell out of the hands of the monks and became property of the Grand Duchy of Baden and was renamed the “Großherzogliche Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus” (Grand Ducal State Brewery Rothaus of Baden). The November Revolution of 1918, which led to the abolition of the monarchy in Baden, caused the company to shorten their name to Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus (State-owned brewery of Baden), as from then on the brewery was owned by the federal state of Baden.

Since 1922, the company has had the legal form of a stock corporation, the shares of which are currently held entirely by the associated company of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The continuously large demand for Rothaus beer has in the past made large investments necessary. This allowed the Rothaus Brewery to grow into one of the most modern facilities in Germany.

330ml bottle from Honest Brew. 5.1%. Low Gluten. Pale golden yellow colour, white foam head leaving some lacing and aroma of straw, grassy. Taste is sweet malty, grains, straw, hay and grassy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, grassy with residual sweetness at the finish. Quite OK.

Rothaus Märzen Export. Geel bier met schuim. Smaak is licht bitter hoppig en ietwat zoetzuur. Best aardig bier, niet echt bijzonder.

Bottle pour at the Sandwich House, Frankfurt Airport. Nice looking bottle, dressed in a gold foil. Pours a clean and clear pale golden with tons of foaming head. Not a bad pils here. It has flavor. Has a touch of metallic too, but barely. Straw grains with a slight meet side to it. Cool finish here, and refreshing for the most part. I like it better than my last German pils for sure. Has a slight lemon zest to it as well that I didn't notice at first. Pretty good overall.

Many thanks for this beer to Mariusz. Ladna piana wyglad pilsnera, a przy bezalkoholowym piwie to spore osiagniecie, ale niestety zachwyt nad piana szybko mija bo opada szybciej niz deszcz. Jasne lekko ziarniste, troche takie mdlawe ale w miare do konsumpcji sie nadaje.

330ml bottle from V&B Annecy. Pours a clear gold, small receding white head. Aroma is moderately sweet pale malt. Taste is clean, pale malt with a pleasing sweet quality. Low bitterness, fairly light-coloured for a marzen I guess. Ok for what it is.

Many thanks from this beer from Schwarzwald to Mariusz.
