Scåssenes (previously Ecaussinnes)
Commercial Brewery in Ecaussinnes, Hainaut, Belgium 🇧🇪
Established in 1999
In 2020 after years of setbacks (the existing installations of the brewery turned out to be too old or too large; while co-investor Michel Simon left the firm) a new manager was appointed to put things in order. Brewmaster Jerôme, a medical biologist, keeps an eye on the fully automated brewing process.

Bottle from Brokantie shop, Pamel. Pours hazy golden with a lasting, thin, frothy, white head. Aroma of banana peel, apricot, white bread, coriander, herbs, yeast, vague sprouts (DMS?). Taste has sweet banana & ripe apple over white bready maltiness, wheaty sour touch, ethereal herbal notes in the back (aniseed, coriander, perfumey orange peel). Yeasty, grassy hoppy finish, more spices, ripe yellow fruit & warming jenever-like alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, medium carbonation. Forgettable.

Bouteille 33cl de la Ferme La Cense des Hirondelles, Silly.
No BB.

What a funny label! Medicinal strawberry and mintaroma and flavor It seems horrid, but it isn't. Sweet, rather artificial and a bit sticky. peppermint and strawberry marmelade aftertaste. Weird, but not unpleasant. Even my almost-non-beerdrinking wife Diane loved it.

Blonde with chunks of yeast. Mandarin, grapefruit and banana aroma, even some lychee with a hint of glue. Citrus flavor with mandarin, with just a bit of herbal bitterness. Thin, with a relatively short aftertaste. Not bad at all.

Orange amber color, with little chunks of yeast. Orange aroma with a hint of butter. Citric, buttery, malty flavor. Hopbitter finish. Good beer from a good brewery.

Malty aroma with peach and citrus. Flavor has some roasted malt, beach and coffee. Bitter aftertaste. The alcohol is partly hidden by the malty sweetness. Well made, but I prefer the Ultrablonde

Perfumed, somewhat citric aroma.Golden color, hazy, big creamy head. Full bodied, feels heavy. Some malt and hops, but the citrus dominates. Some sweetness that, together with the citrus, overshadows the alcohol. Just a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste. Well made and tasty beer.

Pinkish blonde color. Ginger and cake dough in the aroma. Sweet ginger cake flavor. Mangofruit. Too sweet and I don’t like ginger!
