(bottle) Hazy yellow colour with a fluffy foamy white head, slowly lacing. Spicy yeasty and slightly citrus-fruity aroma with shy hoppy notes. Light-sweet flavour; yeasty-fruity, slightly grainy taste with a shy hoppy blend; slim mouthfeel, although it has 5.5 % alcohol; slightly malty, very light bitter and short finish with a spicy yeasty note. Not a great achievement.

(33cl swing top bottle) Clear, light-amber colour with a fluffy white foam. Honeyish malty aroma with a light touch of caramel. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to light body with a smooth carbonation. Malty taste with faint fruity accents and shy hops in the background; medium-dry, light bitter and quite slim finish with a herbal hoppy blend. Decent, but quite good for Schlappeseppel standards.

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with an unstable foamy white head. Not very intense malty aroma, slightly sweet and slightly grainy. Light sweet flavour, quite slim grainy taste, lively carbonated mouthfeel; dryish, light bitter and short finish with shy but all the more metallic hops. Poor example of the style.

(bottle) Clear, yellow colour with a mid-sized foamy white head. Nose of metallic hops and papery malt with a tinge of vegetables. Medium to light bitter flavour, light body, slim and slightly fizzy mouthfeel. Cheap malty taste with a hoppy blend; dry, light bitter, papery and almost fizzy finish. An industrial, weak brew.

Schon beim Antrunk fällt auf, dass das Bier sehr malzbetont ist. Hopfige Aromen werden höchstens im hintersten Nachgeschmack ersichtlich. Die Malzigkeit ist dagegen von Anfang bis Ende schmeckbar. Im Mittelteil kommt neben einem mittelherben auch ein recht ausgeprägtes fruchtiges Aroma hinzu. Allgemein ist das Bier im Mittelteil sehr würzig. Sehr gut gelungen, endlich mal eine Brauerei die ein neues Bier ohne Lemon, Gold oder ähnlichem herstellt. Test vom 27.8.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,13,14,12,11,14 - 12,90

Bottle. Malty, slightly lemony aroma. Cloudy pale golden colour. Big, stable, lacy, white head. Mild flavour, a little malt. Low bitterness. Good mouthfeel. The mild flavour and good mouthfeel make it very drinkable.

Bottle. Grainy, old hop aroma. Pale yellow colour, small, very unstable head. The flavour is quite mild, OK balance with alcohol. The maltiness is fine, but the hop flavour is not too pleasant. Watery aftertaste with some bitterness.

Whitish head, gone in secs, over gold-coloured beer with a very slight (cold?)haze. Very subdued nose, nothing but pale malts. Dryish, sweet-ish and slightly oxydized taste (yes! bottle is a few months past BBd). Further... some pale malt? There’s really nothing distinctive to mention here. Light to medium bodied. This is German rubbish. There’s NOWT going on, pathetic.

[Schlappeseppel Winterbock] A pale yellow beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet and alcoholic, while the flavor is sweet malty with notes of alcohol and grain.

A brown beer with a brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel, while the flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel. Øv, we lost to Canada in hockey at the World Championships while I was drinking this beer - after winning the second period 3-0 - I hope it is not the beers fault.
