Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW. Clearish, red-brown pour with a mild head. Faint roasty malts on the nose, hints of sugary fruit. Flavor is nice, if a bit bland, with notes of toasted, dark malts, grape, and faint wood. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Faintly sweet finish, lightly roasty with faint fruit notes. Decent but lacks oomph. (April 2011, score 3.4)
Cask at GBBF 2016. Day 1. Pours clear light brown with a frothy, off-white head. Dry with lightly toasted malts, subtle earth, relaxed cocoa notes. Light bodied with fine carbonation. More dry cocoa notes in the finish. Not bad. (August 2016, score: 3.4)

330 ml bottle, from Selfridgeโs food store, London. ABV is 4.5%. Pitch black colour, moderate to low tan head. The aroma is roasty with notes of smoke, tar and salt water, hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Smooth mouthfeel, light bodied. Dry flavour, roasty notes with coffee and smoke, moderate bitterness, slightly salty finish with a hint of liquorice. Pleasant to drink.

Cask, gravity at Merton Winter Beer Festival 05.02.11 Pours brown with some reddy glints catching in the light there is a slight haziness however this eventually cleared, off white head. Fruity and nutty with a tang itโs a little drying towards the end. A6 A3 T6 P4 Ov12 3.1

A BBE Feb 08 bottle - stored cool and dark. Opaque brown stout . Rich without being overly roasty or thick. Sharpish tang to this - the oysters? Dry finish. Not bad but could not drink loads.

Bottle. Pours a semi-hazy, light ruby with a fine, white head. Weak aroma of wheat and sour fruit. Flavor is faintly sweet, with tangy fruits. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with some lingering citric tartness. Not a big fan.

Bottle. Pours a clear, light gold with a medium, white head. Grainy malts and light, sweet citrus in the nose. Fairly sweet flavor, more grainy malts. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes crisp with some fruit notes and lingering, malty sweetness. Not that good overall.

Cask at the Alma, London. Pours an opaque, dark brown with medium, tan head. Roasted malt aroma with chocolate and smoke. Lightly sweet with char, tobacco and cocoa. Light bodied with light carbonation. Has a dry, lightly roasted malt finish with some mild saltiness. Overall a bit light on character.

Cask, handpump at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, 15.09.10 Pours black with beige head, Nice roastiness, good meaty fullness to this, coffee and roasted notes and flavours, I might have got a saline twang but just not sure. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3

Cask@GBBF2010. Rather dull murky reddish brown colour with small beige head. Aroma is raspberries, some wheat and mild yeasty and herbal notes. Flavour is mild wheat and raspberries with some herbal and wooden notes along with it. Somehow the raspberries and wheat in this one clash in a rather evil way. Sorry, but no thanks.
